Bagno Vignoni & Piazza delle Sorgenti

In the heart of the UNESCO-protected Val d'Orcia, Bagno Vignoni is a medieval village whose main town square is not paved with cobblestones, but is an immense 16th-century thermal pool of steaming 49°C mineral water.

The Steaming Renaissance Piazza

Built directly over an underground volcanic aquifer, the 49-meter-long basin known as Piazza delle Sorgenti has remained virtually unchanged since the Renaissance. While bathing in the central square pool itself is prohibited to preserve historical integrity, the overflowing waters feed thermal channels flowing into surrounding hydrotherapy sanctuaries.

"At dusk, steam floats silently across the Renaissance stone loggias, casting Bagno Vignoni into an ethereal Tuscan dream."

Parco dei Mulini & Modern Thermal Bathing

  • Parco dei Mulini (Park of the Mills): Water from the central square flows down steep limestone cliffs through carved medieval stone water mills and channels into free public outdoor limestone pools at the base of the gorge.
  • Adler Spa Resort Thermae: A premier luxury wellness sanctuary offering outdoor hydro-thermal lagoons, Olympic mineral lap pools, and Tuscan fango olive-leaf wraps.
  • Albergo Le Terme & Posta Marcucci: Historic boutique hotels with private thermal baths overlooking panoramic cypress-lined rolling hills.
